Initial enquiry and securing your date
Once you have set your date and booked your venue then your wedding cake journey begins with completing the enquiry form on the website. I ask for certain information about your day so that I can start visualising your wedding cake from the very first point of contact. Providing the following details allows me to offer accurate guidance and information from my very first correspondence:
Wedding Date: Please let me know your wedding date so I can check my availability.
Venue: Please give details of your venue as sometimes I manage more than one delivery in one day, so it is helpful to check delivery logistics at this stage.
Guest Number: Please give an approximate guest number as this will help determine the number of tiers and cake sizes that you will require.
Preferred Style: If you already have an idea of your dream wedding cake then please do share some images! This will give me an idea of your vision and also I can check that I am the right cake designer for you. However if you are unsure on your cake design at the time of booking then I just ask that you browse my work on the website and social media, to check that my styles resonate with the vision that you have.
Budget: Whilst this isn’t essential, it's beneficial for me to be aware of your budget. I understand that every wedding has financial considerations, so having a range to work within, allows me to tailor my suggestions accordingly. This ensures that the recommendations I provide, align with your budget and preferences.
Once you're satisfied that all your initial inquiries have been addressed and you're ready to secure your date with me, I kindly request that all clients make a £100 non-refundable deposit to confirm my services. Finalising designs is not required at this stage; the deposit solely reserves your date with me, allowing ample time for you to contemplate your cake style.
Consultation (12 - 3 months to go)
Personal consultations are scheduled during the quieter months, typically between November and March. You'll be invited to attend a meeting on a convenient date at my home-based studio in Minster Lovell, West Oxfordshire.
During our meeting, we'll discuss your ideas and explore various design options to create your exquisite bespoke wedding cake. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to taste five delicious cake flavours from my menu.
To aid the design process, I suggest that you bring with you any items that will assist me in visualising your day, such as images of wedding cakes that you admire, fabric and colour swatches, stationery samples, flowers lists and Pintrest boards.
Following the consultation, I will provide you with a digital sketch of the cake we've designed based on your requests. This sketch will also outline your flavour selections for each tier. Upon your approval, I will then present you with a detailed quote, detailing final costs and outstanding balance.
The run up to your wedding day (1 month to go)
As your wedding day approaches, please rest assured that I am always available to address any questions that you may have. During this time I may also liaise with your venue and any other suppliers that I may work alongside with, such as styling teams and florists, regarding the set up and display of your cake. The remaining balance for your cake will be due four weeks before the wedding. Prompt payment is appreciated to allow for the purchase of any special items specific to your cake and to commence any advance preparations, such as creating sugar flowers.
Wedding cake preparation (1-2 weeks to go)
As the week of your wedding begins, you will find me immersed in my studio devoting all my attention to the orders for that week . I limit myself a maximum of two weddings per week ensuring that your wedding cake will receive my undivided attention. Cakes are baked as close to the wedding day as possible to ensure maximum freshness. For semi naked and buttercream cakes, baking occurs two days prior to the wedding, while fondant iced and heavily decorated cakes may be baked earlier in the week due to intricate processes involved in achieving their flawless appearance.
As each new week dawns, I never lose sight or get complacent, that I am always creating someone’s dream wedding cake. My studio is not a production line of cakes, it’s a thoughtful, devoted space where every cake is created with dedication, creative flair and pure love.
Delivery on your wedding day
On your wedding day, I typically aim to deliver your cake to the venue by midday. If your cake features fresh flowers, timings may be led by florist. Prior communication with the venue ensures a smooth seamless setup process, minimizing disruption to ongoing preparations. Cakes are stacked and assembled on-site to reduce the risk of damage during transit and I dedicate ample time to ensure that your cake is absolutely perfect, positioned well and will photograph beautifully.
After your wedding
After the last handful of confetti has been thrown and your beautiful day comes to an end, I hope that you and your guests have admired and enjoyed your wedding cake. If you find yourself with leftovers then it is perfectly fine to portion and freeze slices for you to savour in the weeks ahead.
If you have hired a cake stand, then I kindly request its return to me within 2 days unless prior collection arrangements have been made.
Each wedding holds a special place in my heart, filled with cherished memories of both the couple, their wedding cake and their love story, so I am always so grateful to receive your professional images of your wedding cake. I these treasure for years to come and use them to showcase my work to future couples.
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your special day and may the years ahead be filled with an abundance of joy, laughter and love!
